According to Title 4 Chapter 7 – Regulations of Vacant Buildings - of the Village of Riverwoods Municipal Code, the owner of any building shall register a vacant building with the Community Services Director within seven (7) days after the occurrence of events that would cause a reasonable person to believe the building is vacant, or within seven (7) days of receiving the Notice of Determination stating that the building is vacant, whichever occurs first, and each year thereafter by filing a Vacant Building Registration Form.
The following items shall be submitted with this form at the time of registration:
- An annual, non-prorated, non-refundable $250.00 Registration Fee shall be required for each vacant building.
- Submit proof of public liability insurance with a minimum of $1,000,000 coverage.
- A Vacant Building Action Plan.
Please note the following:
- An owner shall notify the Community Services Director within fifteen (15) days of any change in registration information by filing an Amended Registration Form.
- The owner of a vacant building is required to renew the registration annually on the anniversary date of the first filing. The annual renewal will include a new Vacant Building Registration Form and payment of the $250.00 Annual Registration Fee.
