Saunders Road is scheduled to be widened and resurfaced beginning this summer.
The Village of Riverwoods will be hosting a Neighborhood Meeting to be held at the Village Hall, 300 Portwine Road, on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The meeting will include a presentation outlining what to expect during construction and how residents can stay informed as the project progresses. There will be a question-and-answer session following the presentation, and staff will be available to answer property-specific questions following the meeting. The meeting also will be recorded and posted to the Village website following the meeting.
The following information will be discussed:
- Project schedule, anticipated timeline from start of construction to finish
- Project scope of work including,
- Watermain replacement under Saunders Road at Brae Burn Drive
- Widening of the paved surface to add shared shoulders to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety
- Replacement of Lake County’s Sewage Lift Station (separate but concurrent project)
- Drainage ditch improvements
- Driveway culvert replacements
- Driveway apron restoration
- Landscape restoration including sodding and tree replacements
- Mail box restoration
- What construction activities you should expect during the course of construction
- Street access
- Lane closures
- Driveway access
This project will have major impacts to all properties in the area due to the significant roadway and drainage ditch reconstruction and street lane closures required to complete the project.
