Residents and businesses with burglar/holdup alarm systems are required to register their alarm systems annually. Ordinance 5-1F-4 of the Riverwoods Village Code applies to residential and commercial burglar/holdup alarm systems installed throughout the Village. The purpose of this ordinance is to reduce the number of false alarms requiring a police response by regulating the use of alarm systems in the Village. Alarm activity can be closely monitored and emergency contact information on alarm users and their keyholders is made readily available to first responders.
The initial registration fee is twenty-five dollars ($25.00) per system and must be paid at the time of application. The annual renewal fee is fifteen dollars ($15.00) for each system. Upon a change in ownership of the premises in which the alarm system is installed, a re-registration by the new owner is required, as well as a new initial registration fee.
