The mission of the Riverwoods Police Department is to enhance the quality of life, while providing a safe and secure environment for all persons within the Village. Department members are dedicated to acting in partnership with the community to provide professional, high-quality service.
About the Riverwoods Police Department
Established October 31, 2001, the Riverwoods Police Department is a full-service, 24/7 agency, comprised of 9 full-time sworn officers, 8 part-time sworn officers, and 3 part-time records administrators, prepared to respond to critical incidents and is supported through memberships with the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force (comprised of experienced investigators and crime scene technicians), the Northeastern Illinois Regional Crime Laboratory, the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team, the Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System (Mutual Aid), and the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System (www.nipas.org)/ (providing access to the Emergency Services Team and the Mobile Field Force).
The Department is equipped with the latest technology, including Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) in every squad car, “enhanced 911”, and access to local, state, and national databases through in-car computers.
The Department offers a Premise Alert Program (PAP) in support of individuals living with disabilities or special needs as well as police and emergency medical personnel responding to calls at a related address. Individuals with disabilities or special needs wishing to participate in the program may supply information to be kept in our computer-aided dispatch (CAD) database free of charge. Sign up here.
