Help Reduce Mosquitoes by Recycling Old Tires
Did you know a single discarded tire can produce thousands of mosquitoes in one summer if it collects rainwater? To help reduce mosquito breeding and the risk of mosquito-borne diseases, the North Shore Mosquito Abatement District (NSMAD) offers a free tire collection program for residents.
Residents within the NSMAD service area may schedule a tire pickup or drop-off appointment by submitting a service request (select “Tire Collection”) or calling 847-446-9434.
The program accepts up to four passenger vehicle, light truck, or SUV tires per household each year. Tires must be removed from their rims. Commercial, agricultural, and tires mounted on rims are not accepted. The program is available to residential properties only.
