Building Permit Application

For large projects, such as new home construction or building additions, different submittal requirements apply. Please contact bldg@riverwoods.gov for more information.

Please complete this application and submit to the Building Department with the following:

  • Copies of the plans, specifications or scope of work (submit 2 copies if applying in-person)
  • For External Projects, submit an up-to-date Plat of Survey 
  • Certificates of of Liability Insurance for all Contractors, naming the Village of Riverwoods as the additionally insured/certified holder.
  • Licenses for Plumber, Electrician, or Roofer
  • Inspections are required on all permits
  • $80 fee for each inspection
  • Additional Consultant Fees may be incurred after the permit has been issued
  • Permits expire one year after date of issuance
  • Maximum Road Weight Limit is 6 tons per axle for divisible loads
  • Work hours are Mon-Fri, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, Sat 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
