Firearms Seized
On 02/14/23, at 1:00 a.m., police were summoned to a domestic dispute involving an angry intoxicated subject who owned several firearms. With consent, officers removed 3 rifles and 3 handguns from the home. Based on the responding officers’ observations and what they learned about the gun owner, police went before a Lake County Judge at 9:30 am and obtained a Firearms Restraining Order, suspending the gun owner’s Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card for 6 months. The order was served to the gun owner at 12:00 p.m. when officers responded to another domestic dispute at the home. An additional handgun was confiscated along with the subject’s FOID card. A Clear and Present Danger form was submitted to the Illinois State Police that morning resulting in the revocation of the person’s FOID card on 02/17/23
DUI Arrests
On 02/17/2023, at 7:28 a.m., police were summoned to the area of Saunders Rd and Lake Cook Rd for a vehicle stopped in traffic which was facing S/B in the N/B lanes of Saunders Rd. A subsequent investigation into the matter led to the arrest of KORTEZ R. DELANEY, male, age 34, of the 600 block of 38th St, Chicago, IL, for Improper Lane Usage and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. He was released on a $3000.00 personal recognizance bond and is scheduled to appear at the Lake County Courthouse in Waukegan on 03/08/2023.
On 02/19/2023 at 2:10 a.m., police stopped a vehicle near Lake Cook Road and Portwine Road and arrested the driver, DERRICK DEWAYNE HENRY, male, age 38, of the 200 block of N. County St, Waukegan, IL, for Speeding, Open Transportation of Alcohol, Driving While License Revoked and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. He was released on a $3000.00 personal recognizance bond and is scheduled to appear at the Lake County Courthouse in Waukegan on 03/22/2023.
