Nature Play Area Coming to Village Campus

On Dec. 6, 2022, the Board of Trustees approved the construction of a nature play area at the Village Hall Campus, a project which was initially part of the Flatwoods Heritage Center design, dating back to early 2020. This new resident amenity will provide an additional outdoor gathering space to help enhance our sense of community, while providing health and wellbeing benefits of outdoor play, and promoting stewardship of the woodlands by the next generation.

With the recent influx of new residents with children over the last two and a half years, many have inquired about a play area.  The specific design of the play area was chosen on the basis of resident input from over 100 families and directly from families attending the Halloween event in October of this year.  The play area will be augmented by Trail Tales, a storybook laid out sequentially, along an adjacent pathway to invite kids into the woods.  The play area and pathway will be completely handicap accessible.

While this new resident amenity is expected to positively impact property values, the Village Campus is intended as a place where celebrations are held, where friends run into each other, and where cultures mix.  The nature play area is a key component of this civic space.  Construction is expected to be completed by mid summer of 2023.
